(July 27, 2012) Michele Bachmann is at it again…but this time, she's gone way too far. Rep. Bachmann and four other Republican members of Congress are accusing Muslim Americans in the U.S. government, including one of Hillary Clinton’s key aides Huma Abedin, of aiding terrorists. They have absolutely no evidence. All they have is McCarthy-esque fear tactics.

What's worse? As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, Bachmann has access to highly sensitive national security information — information that affects all of our safety.

Tell Speaker John Boehner that Michele Bachmann can't be trusted with our secrets. She should be kicked off the House Intelligence Committee immediately.

Bachmann's false and irresponsible attacks went too far even for her fellow Republicans — John McCain called it "an unwarranted and unfounded attack on an honorable woman, a dedicated American and a loyal public servant." Even Speaker Boehner called Bachmann's words "pretty dangerous."

Conspiracy theories and McCarthyism have no place in our government. Tell Speaker Boehner that Michele Bachmann has lost her right to sit on the House Intelligence Committee.

Sen. McCain said it best: "When anyone, not least a member of Congress, launches specious and degrading attacks against fellow Americans on the basis of nothing more than fear of who they are and ignorance of what they stand for, it defames the spirit of our nation, and we all grow poorer because of it." This isn’t a Democrat vs. Republican issue. It's about defending all of our values.
